I’ve set up the Vastaywar Bot on six different Discord servers. Some worked right away. Others?
I spent three hours digging through config menus just to get mute roles working.
You’re here because you tried adding it. And nothing clicked. Or you added it, but half the commands do nothing.
Or worse (you) watched a YouTube tutorial from 2022 and realized halfway through that the interface changed again.
This isn’t another vague “here’s what it can do” post. It’s how you actually get it running. How you stop guessing which slash command does what.
How you fix the “interaction failed” error without restarting your browser.
You’ll learn how to add it (no admin overkill). How to configure moderation so it stays quiet unless needed. How to turn on fun features without drowning your server in spam.
No fluff. No jargon. Just steps that work today.
By the end, you’ll know exactly what to click, what to type, and when to walk away and let it run.
What the Vastaywar Bot Actually Does
I installed the Vastaywar bot on my server last month. It’s not magic. It’s just a tool that works.
It kicks spam before it spreads. It greets new people with a real message. Not a wall of emojis.
It runs polls so you stop arguing about pizza toppings in #general.
You know that moment when someone posts the same meme three times in ten minutes? Yeah. It stops that.
It does moderation without making your server feel like a DMV. No robotic warnings. No overreactions.
Just clean, quiet control.
Fun commands? Yes. But not the kind that clutter your slash menu.
Think quick reactions. Not mini-games that need a manual.
Server owners pick it because they’re tired of juggling five bots for one job.
Why run a welcome bot, a poll bot, and a mute bot when one handles all three?
It doesn’t fix bad rules or lazy mods.
But it does give good ones more time to breathe.
You want your server to feel alive (not) like a spreadsheet with avatars. So do I. That’s why it’s on my list.
Invite the Vastaywar Bot to Discord
I click the invite link. You do too.
It’s on top.gg or the official site. Just search “Vastaywar Bot”. That’s how I found it.
You pick your server. Then you see permissions. Manage Messages lets it delete spam. Kick Members helps with bans. Read Message History means it sees what’s already there.
You don’t need all permissions turned on. But if you want moderation, those three matter.
The CAPTCHA is annoying. (Yes, it’s still there in 2024.)
You approve. The bot joins. No fanfare.
No welcome message unless you set one.
Did you check if it’s online? Type /ping or just watch the status dot.
You gave it access. Now test it. Try a command.
Some servers block bots by default. Go to Server Settings > Roles > @everyone > Permissions and make sure “Add Reactions” and “Send Messages” are on for the bot role.
See if it replies.
If it doesn’t (check) the permissions again. Or restart the bot.
It’s not magic. It’s code. And code needs the right keys to work.
That’s it. You’re done.
Right After You Invite Vastaywar Bot

I type !help the second it joins.
You should too.
It tells you what it does. No guessing. No scrolling through docs first.
That ! is the prefix. Vastaywar Bot uses ! by default. You can change it later (but) don’t sweat that now.
Just type !help and hit enter.
Try !ping. It replies with “Pong!” and a number like 124ms. That’s how fast it talks to Discord.
If it’s over 300ms, something’s off.
Need to kick someone? !kick @user reason works right away. No setup needed. (Yes, you need Kick Members permission.
But you already checked that, right?)
Make a #bot-commands channel. Not required. But it keeps !ping spam out of #general.
People test things there. Not in your main chat.
The bot doesn’t auto-announce itself. So say something like:
Hey everyone.
!helpshows all commands. Try!pingto test.
You’ll want to know how to change the prefix later. This guide covers that. And what each command actually does. Not just a list.
Real usage.
Skip the config screen for now. Get one thing working first. Then two.
Then three.
You’re not setting up a server. You’re adding a tool. Use it.
Not sure if !kick worked? Check audit logs. They show every action.
Vastaywar Is Not a Toy
I’ve seen servers collapse under bloated bots. Vastaywar Bot is different.
You decide what triggers a warning. You choose whether to auto-mute after three warnings. (Yes, it tracks that.)
It does moderation right. Not just mute and ban, but warn, log, and escalate. You set thresholds.
You think your server needs fun? Try !flip or !8ball. They work.
They’re fast. No lag. No “loading” screens.
Welcome messages? You paste plain text. Add {user}.
Add {server}. Done. No JSON.
No templates. No 45-minute setup.
Goodbye messages? Same thing. Role on join?
One command. One role name. It sticks.
Logging? Turn it on. Pick channels.
See joins, bans, kicks, nickname changes (all) in real time. I check mine daily. You should too.
The !help command shows everything. But don’t just scroll. Try !help mod.
Then !help fun. Then !help config. You’ll find things you didn’t know existed.
Some people tweak settings until nothing works. I change one thing at a time. Then I test.
Then I move on.
Why overcomplicate it?
You want more control? More options? Look into Vastaywar mods.
They’re not for beginners. But if you’ve used the base bot for two weeks and still feel limited. Yeah, go there.
You’re running a server. Not a science lab.
Keep it simple. Keep it working.
Your Server Just Got Smarter
I remember staring at that first setup screen. Confused. Overwhelmed.
Wondering if it was even worth the effort.
You felt that too, right?
The Vastaywar Bot isn’t magic. It’s just clear steps. A few commands.
Some tweaks that actually stick.
You already know how to install it. You know what each command does. You’ve seen how small changes (like) auto-moderation or role assignment.
Cut chaos in half.
So stop waiting for “someday.”
Your server needs this now.
Try one new feature today. Then another tomorrow. Tweak it until it fits your people (not) some generic template.
You don’t need perfection.
You need motion.
Go ahead. Invite the bot. Run /setup.
Watch your server breathe easier.
That confusion you felt? It’s gone. You’ve got this.
Hit the invite link.
Start now.
